PECC: State of the Region Survey: Detailed Results

A total of 722 opinion-leaders from 28 economies including all 21 APEC members responded to this year’s survey.

Some of the key findings of the survey are:

Economic Outlook

  • 41% of respondents expect stronger growth for the global economy over the next 12 months
  • 40% expect stronger growth for China over the next 12 months
  • 38% expect stronger growth for the US over the next 12 months

Top 5 Risks to Growth

  • Increased protectionism
  • Lack of political leadership
  • A slowdown in the Chinese economy
  • Possible slowdown in world trade growth
  • Failure to implement structural reforms

Top Priorities for APEC leaders

  • Promoting sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth through the APEC growth strategy
  • The emergence of anti-globalization & anti-trade sentiments
  • Progress towards the Bogor Goals and the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP)
